Cybersecurity a Critical Warning for SMEs

Prague’s Tech Sector Expands Rapidly

Prague is experiencing strong growth in its technology sector. The expansion is confirmed by Cato Networks, a global leader in cybersecurity valued at 4.8 billion dollars. The company will soon move into a larger research and development center in the capital. It also plans to triple its workforce within the next year.

According to founder Shlomo Kramer, co-creator of the first firewall, the city offers several advantages. These include a strategic location, access to international talent and a mature technological ecosystem. Therefore, Prague has become an ideal hub for developing artificial intelligence–driven security solutions.

Cyberattacks Up 84% in Two Years

The rise in cyber threats is dramatic. Kramer explained that the industry is entering its most critical phase in twenty years. He also emphasized that the intensity of today’s security challenges is unprecedented.

Recent data supports this concern. The national cybersecurity authority reports an 84% increase in attacks between 2022 and 2024. Moreover, small and medium-sized enterprises are heavily targeted. They often lack advanced protection, limited by weaker systems and fewer internal IT resources.

Digital Transformation Expands the Attack Surface

Cloud adoption, hybrid work models and widespread digitalization have reshaped business operations. As a result, the attack surface has grown significantly. Companies no longer defend only their internal networks. Instead, they must secure employees working remotely, cloud platforms, business applications and tools powered by artificial intelligence.

Consequently, integrated solutions such as SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) have become essential. These platforms combine network performance and cybersecurity in a single framework. They also offer complete protection even for organizations without internal security teams.

Why SMEs Must Strengthen Cybersecurity Now

Chief Technology Officer Eyal Heiman warns that artificial intelligence is transforming cyberattacks. Threats are becoming faster, smarter and more difficult to detect. Therefore, SMEs must act immediately.

Improving cybersecurity now reduces financial risks, operational downtime and long-term damage. In addition, companies must invest in employee training and continuous monitoring. Only a coordinated approach can protect the entire digital ecosystem.
