In future, the conclusion of employment contracts and their termination will also be possible by digital means. This is part of the upcoming changes to the Labour Code, which is expected to be more flexible. The use of overtime is also set to change. This was announced by Labour and Social Affairs Minister Marian Jurečka.
Expected changes
The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Marian Jurečka, announced that it will be possible to submit and receive resignations digitally. The proposed amendment will include measures for the complete digitalisation of labour relations, allowing people to conclude, supplement or terminate contracts digitally.
In addition, the minister emphasised the intention to make the use of overtime and the working time fund more flexible in order to assist companies with seasonal orders. This aims to solve particular challenges that companies face during intense periods such as summer or winter. Jurečka emphasised that the flexibility of the rules is necessary to prevent small trade unions from blocking the conclusion of collective agreements in large companies with hundreds or thousands of employees.
The amendment is currently being discussed, and it is expected to be drafted within one or two months and then sent to the legislative process.
Change in benefits
In parallel, the Ministry of Labour is preparing another amendment that envisages changes in the benefit system as of 2025. The aim is to simplify the benefit system by combining several contributions into one support. This new support should replace the housing and integration allowance, the subsistence allowance and the child allowance. Not only the income of applicants will be assessed, but also their assets. The condition for receiving this support will be to work or seek employment.
Jurečka said that this reform is being prepared and considers it as important as the pension reform. The new structure will be simplified for both applicants and the state, and motivational incentives will be implemented for those actively seeking work. It is planned to present the complete proposal of the pension system revision to the coalition parties in the coming weeks. The aim is to motivate more people within the social security system, but there will also be more rigorous data collection to better assess the wealth and income relationships of beneficiaries.
