Czechia received an overall score of 7.81 out of 10, compared with 7.55 in the previous revised ranking, when it placed 35th.

The ranking covers 165 countries and territories and evaluates economic freedom across five main areas: size of government, legal system and property rights, sound money, freedom to trade internationally, and regulation of credit, labour and business.

For entrepreneurs and foreign companies considering the Czech market, the improvement provides an interesting indication of the country’s broader economic environment. However, understanding what is behind the ranking is more useful than looking at the position alone.

Monetary Stability Drives the Improvement

The strongest change came from the “sound money” category. Czechia’s score increased from 8.39 to 9.19, with the improvement mainly linked to inflation developments.

The country also continues to perform particularly well in international trade. Its score for freedom to trade internationally remained at 8.88, making this one of Czechia’s strongest areas.

Other indicators improved more gradually. The score for the legal system and property rights increased from 7.46 to 7.63, while regulation of credit, labour and business improved from 6.97 to 7.23. The size-of-government category increased only slightly, from 6.03 to 6.13, and remains the country’s weakest score among the five areas.

What the Ranking Means for Businesses

For companies evaluating the Czech Republic, the results provide a positive macroeconomic signal. Strong scores for monetary conditions and international trade are particularly relevant to businesses operating across borders or considering Czechia as part of a wider European strategy.

The improvement in regulation is also worth monitoring because regulatory conditions influence how easily businesses can operate, employ people and access financing.

At the same time, the ranking should not be interpreted as proof that establishing or operating a business in Czechia is automatically simple. Each company still needs to assess the rules and conditions that apply to its own activities.

A Useful Indicator, Not a Real-Time Picture

There is another important limitation. The data used in the Economic Freedom of the World ranking are two years behind the publication date. The 2026 ranking therefore provides a structural view of Czechia’s economic environment rather than a real-time assessment of conditions in October 2026.

For investors and entrepreneurs, this distinction matters. International rankings can help compare markets and identify longer-term trends, but they should be combined with an analysis of current regulations, operating requirements and the specific characteristics of the planned investment.

Czechia’s rise to 23rd place is therefore an encouraging signal. The more important question for businesses is how those broader strengths translate into the practical conditions affecting their own operations.to 23rd place is a positive sign. The key question for businesses is how these broader strengths affect their own operations.

AI Image

Link: Czechia economic freedom ranking 2026

Czechia Moves Up the Global Ranking The Czech Republic has climbed to 23rd place in the Economic Freedom of the World 2026 ranking, strengthening its position among relatively open and…

[855,525
536,1800,1767

post-18479","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-blog-en","category-en","tag-czech-economy","tag-doing-business-in-czechia","tag-foreign-investment
["GET
