This was also confirmed by data from the Association for Electronic Commerce (APEK).<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>According to Heureka.cz and APEK, online retail sales reached an astonishing 223 billion CZK in sales last year, another absolute record.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>The share of e-commerce in Czech retail is growing every year. In 2021, sales of goods on the Internet have risen to 17% of the total. That means a one percentage point increase over 2020. What makes these data even more incredible is the comparison with historical series. For example, in 2005 the share of online sales in Czech retail was only 1.6% <\/em>&#8220;, comments <strong>Jan Vety\u0161ka, executive director of APEK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>However, the importance of e-shops does not derive only from the data relating to the goods sold. &#8220;<em>Direct employment in online stores exceeds 85,000 employees. If we also add the established logistics-driven services, we will find that e-commerce offers jobs in the Czech Republic for over 120,000 people,&#8221;<\/em> says Jan Vety\u0161ka. There are about 20,000 more employees than the workforce in food production. Internet sales, therefore, play an increasingly important role in society as a whole. Furthermore, it is clear that e-commerce and traditional stores will continue to overlap. <em>&#8220;It makes less and less sense to talk about online and offline stores. We see that the trend is towards merging these two sales channels.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is quite clear that e-commerce in the Czech Republic and throughout Europe will continue to increase its importance and the share of goods sold. So what are the prospects for the next few years? &#8220;<em>According to our estimates, online sales could account for up to 25% of all Czech retail by 2030.
