The Czech currency weakened against the euro and the dollar, the Prague Stock Exchange continued to strengthen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Czech currency weakened today against the euro and the dollar. At 17:00 compared to the previous close it had deteriorated by 9 cents against the euro to 24.69 CZK\/EUR and by 12 cents against the dollar to 22.55 CZK\/USD. This was evident from data on the Patria Online server. The Prague Stock Exchange strengthened for the sixth consecutive time, the PX index rising 0.34% to 1,456.26 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The numbers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Czech Statistical Office (\u010cS\u00da) reported today that the consumer price index rose by 6.9% year-on-year in December. This growth rate, although slower than in November, contributed to the weakening of the koruna, according to analysts. It should be noted that the Polish zloty and the Hungarian forint showed similar relative losses against the euro. In contrast, rising inflation data in the US supported the dollar, according to Komer\u010dn\u00ed banka analyst Jarom\u00edr Gec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prague Stock Exchange<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Prague Stock Exchange continued its positive trend, recording its sixth consecutive increase today. The PX index rose by 0.34 per cent to 1,456.26 points, confirming its highest level since last February. During the day, the banking sector showed positive performance, with the only exception of the electricity company \u010cEZ, which reported losses, according to the exchange’s website. The Prague Stock Exchange index had reached its highs on 2 January, during the first trading session of the new year, and was the highest since the previous February. Although the stock market weakened slightly the following day, the PX index has been rising steadily since 4 January. On today’s day, the shares of \u010cEZ recorded a loss of 0.77 per cent, closing at SEK 969. In contrast, shares in Erste gained 0.99%, closing at 944.90 crowns, while those in Komer\u010dn\u00ed banka strengthened by 0.8%, closing at 752.50 crowns. The currency rose 0.32% to 95.40 Czech crowns. Kofola, the insurance company VIG, and Philip Morris also ended the day positively, which, after the final auction of Colt at a price of CZK 585, remained stable, as indicated by Martin Singer of Fio bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
