It will be faster to build renewable resources and strengthen energy security
In recent days, the Chamber of Deputies has approved an amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources Act, which is expected to reduce red tape for the construction of new renewable energy plants. However, the Senate’s opinion is still being awaited.
The law will make it easier to build renewable energy sources by raising the threshold from 10 to 50 KW under which it will no longer be necessary to apply to the energy authority for a building permit and authorization for business activities. This will mainly affect households and condominiums and small businesses that will install their own energy sources with this law. In addition, it is specified that installations with a capacity of at least 1 MW are in the public interest. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing another amendment regarding energy sharing: all consumers will be able to participate in energy sharing.
“New solar or wind power plants are the key to quickly replace Russian natural gas and at the same time the cheapest solution to decarbonize the Czech energy sector. If the amendment is accepted by the Senate, it will be one of the key impulses to restart the development of solar and wind power plants in the Czech Republic,” commented Sedlák, program director of the Modern Energy Union.
