Diesel prices continue to fall while gasoline prices have stalled
Over the past week, the average diesel price fell by ten shillings to 39.31 crowns per liter. This represents the lowest level since last September. Meanwhile, gasoline prices seem to have stabilized after falling in October. On Wednesday, the average cost of natural gas remained unchanged from the previous week at 38.85 kronor per liter, according to data from CCS, a price monitoring agency. Analysts expect further reductions in the coming days. Prior to this latest period, prices had been rising for about four months in a row. A year ago, motorists paid about three crowns more for gasoline, while diesel cost 6.90 more.
Fuel Prices
According to Purple Trading analyst Petr Lajsko, fuel prices are falling due to the steady decline in oil prices on the market in recent days. Lajsek says that the bonus gained by oil prices as a result of the conflicts in the Middle East has worn off, and currently the price of Brent oil is even lower than its pre-war level. The analyst mainly attributes this depreciation to increased concerns about the health of the global economy. In addition, the development of the Czech koruna, which is crucial for the import of oil and fuel, contributed negatively to this trend. Experts predict further reductions in fuel prices, with Boris Tomčiak, director of Finlord, anticipating significant discounts in the coming week, with an estimated decrease of more than 50 healers in gasoline prices. Tomčiak also pointed out that European wholesale margins for gasoline have decreased in the past few days, while they have increased slightly for diesel. Observation of the picture clearly shows that petrol stations in Prague charge the highest fuel prices. In the capital, a liter of natural gas costs on average 40.72 crowns, while the same amount of diesel costs 40.94 crowns. In all other regions, average fuel prices are below 40 crowns per liter for both natural gas and diesel.
Oil is the cheapest in three months
According to XTB analyst Jiří Tyleček, fuel prices could reach August levels if the recent drop in oil prices persists. Tyleček said this could translate into a range of between 37 and 38 crowns per liter for diesel and gasoline. The analyst notes that market trends suggest a faster drop in gasoline, while summer weather conditions indicate a decrease in diesel prices. Lajsek also expects continued price reductions, according to which cheaper oil should continue to influence prices. “The average price of diesel and gasoline could therefore fall below 38 crowns per liter,” Lajsek argued. At the same time, he warned against a further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, which could reverse the downward trend in prices.
