Government: New Covid restrictions in the Czech Republic

New Covid restrictions in the Czech Republic

The new Covid restrictions in the Czech Republic were formalized yesterday, July 1st, 2021, after an extraordinary meeting of the Government. The new rules were enacted to avoid an uncontrolled spread of the new variant Delta, particularly contagious compared to the others.

What are the new rules?

The new Covid restrictions in the Czech Republic will officially enter into force from the 9th of July 2021. The main change from the rules previously in force will concern cases in which people will be harmless to the spread of the contagion. Until the 9th of July people are required, in order to access all the activities such as restaurants or events, to have received a single dose of vaccine at least 22 days, have carried out a negative test, or be cured of covid within 180 days. From July 9 onwards, the first dose alone will no longer be sufficient.

The first dose of the vaccine is only 33% effective against the variant Delta. This means that those who want to access cultural events, restaurants, etc. have to prove that they are not infected through Covid tests, even if they have already received the first dose. Those who received both doses (or single dose) for at least 14 days or are cured of Covid from less than 180 days will not have to perform any tests.

Travel: new Covid restrictions in the Czech Republic

Some new rules for traveling within the Czech Republic have entered into force. Even to enter the Czech territory will no longer be enough a single dose of vaccine, but a Covid test is required. You must also fill in the online form again and submit a negative test, exclusively PCR, unless you have been completely vaccinated at least 14 days before. These rules will also apply to countries, such as Italy, which are considered temporarily at low risk.
