Mortgage loans grow in June

Loans in the Czech Republic: performance in the last month

Interest in mortgages was strong again in June. This is despite the fact that banks are constantly making them more expensive. The average mortgage rate has now stood at 2.13%. In the first half of the year, people have taken out mortgages for 224 billion kroner, beating the record of last year by about 30 billion. In June, people took out loans totaling 44.5 billion.  After a slight cooling of interest in the previous two months, the mortgage market has returned to growth.  However, March still holds the record with a volume of loans disbursed of 44.723 billion kroner.

Loans in the Czech Republic: banks

During the first half of the year, the banks took out loans for 223,786 billion CKR, a volume similar to that of 2016 and 2017 for the entire year, when the total volume exceeded 225 billion CKR. ” Since banks still fail to process mortgage applications, July can confirm a new record year.  So far it has held the record last year, when banks have granted mortgages for over 254 billion kroner.  To break the annual record, banks must therefore conclude mortgage contracts for only about  30 billion,” said Jiří Sýkora of Fincentrum & Swiss Life Select.
